Welcome
Dear Woodmore Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We hope you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with rest, fun, and time together. As we prepare to welcome our Wildcats back, our leadership team has spent the summer reviewing last year's successes, identifying opportunities for growth, and planning for an exciting year of learning.
This year brings several new initiatives designed to strengthen instruction and increase opportunities for family engagement. Kindergarten through Second Grade classes will be self-contained, meaning students will remain with the same teacher throughout the day for all core-content classes. We are also expanding small-group intervention opportunities in Kindergarten and First Grade reading/English Language Arts and providing additional small-group math interventions across all grade levels to better meet students' individual learning needs. In addition, families will have more opportunities than ever to connect with school leadership through parent workshops, informational sessions, and regular opportunities to collaborate and share feedback. We are confident these enhancements will help make this an outstanding year for every student.
The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Prior to the start of school, we invite families to attend Orientation Day on Monday, August 24, according to the following schedule:
Last Names A–H: 9:30 a.m.,
Last Names I–P: 10:30 a.m.
Last Names Q–Z: 11:30 a.m.
Orientation is intended to be a brief opportunity for students to meet their teacher, visit their classroom, and become familiar with their new learning environment. Families are also encouraged to bring school supplies during this visit. Additional information about classroom expectations, instructional programs, and school procedures will be shared during Back-to-School Night in September.
Orientation also provides an excellent opportunity to practice the arrival routine. While families are always welcome at many school events throughout the year, we encourage students to begin building confidence and independence by entering the building and walking to their classrooms on their own on the first day of school. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students will report to the cafeteria on the first morning of school, where they will meet their teachers before being escorted to their classrooms. Staff members will be available throughout the building to assist all students in finding their classrooms and ensuring a smooth, welcoming start to the school year.

- Tuesday, August 18th - Teachers posted in Synergy (Please click HERE for information on creating a Synergy parent account.) If you are not able to see your child’s teacher on Synergy, you will be able to get that information at Orientation.
- Wednesday, September 2nd - Back-to-School Night (More information coming in ClassDojo)
- Monday, September 6th - No School (Labor Day)

- Communication

- Staff email addresses and other important information can be found on the school’s website on the factory directory page (above). Email is the preferred method of communication with the admin team.
- The school phone number is (301) 390-0239. The main office is typically open daily from 8am to 4pm.
- ClassDojo
- Most school events and major announcements will be communicated via Class Dojo. We encourage all families to download the ClassDojo app.
- Families can join the school on ClassDojo using the link below. At the start of the school year families will be invited to join specific ClassDojo classes.

- Synergy
- Synergy (aka ParentVUE) is used for grades, attendance, schedules, student information and more. It will also be where families register new students. Families can login to Synergy/ParentVUE HERE and can get help HERE.
- Information in Synergy is also transferred to SchoolMessenger and used for school system communications. Please make sure all information in Synergy stays up to date.
- Start & End Times
- The school day will begin promptly at 9:30am and end at 3:45pm. Doors will open for students at 9:10am. Please plan accordingly.
- Uniforms
- Woodmore will remain a uniform school for the upcoming school year. Specific uniform information can be found under the “Student Resources” section of the Woodmore website. Woodmore Spiritwear (including Field Day shirts and any previously issued Woodmore clothing) can be worn as a uniform any day of the school year. Spiritwear will be sold online at various times throughout the school year.
- Transportaion
- Please go to https://www.pgcps.org/transportation/ for information on buses and bus stops. Please remember, younger students (Pre-K, K, 1st Grade) must have an adult waiting for them at the bus stop in the afternoon. Bus stops and times will be available at the above site in mid August.
- Meals
- MealsBreakfast, for students that arrive prior to 9:45am, and lunch will be available for all students. We encourage all families to set up an account on MySchoolBucks. Information on MySchoolBucks and PGCPS meal series can be found at https://www.pgcps.org/offices/food-and-nutrition. Students will be assigned a lunch pin on the 1st day of school and staff members will help students remember that pin.
- We also encourage ALL families to apply for Free or Reduced Priced Meals HERE.
- Drop Off
- Morning drop-off is strictly from 9:10 am to 9:25 am. Students will not be able to enter the school prior to 9:10am and students must arrive in time to be in their class by 9:25 am so that they are not marked tardy. Drop off will take place directly in front of the school in the “Parent Lane.” Please do not drop off your child in the bus lane, on Moylan Dr or prior to drop-off lanes. Staff will be on hand to help direct families & visitors.
- Supplies
- The Supply lists for all grade levels are available on the Woodmore website (see above) under the Student Resources Tab or linked HERE.
- Pick Up
- Pickup will occur in the “Parent Lane” (the lane closer to the street) . Cars/Trucks/Vans cannot enter or block the bus lane. Signs for the front windshield will be issued on the first day of school and should be placed in the front windshield daily for pickup. Students will be called from the cafeteria as parents pull up. This will take some time and we encourage students to ride the bus in the afternoon. Students that are car riders must be picked up by 3:50pm.
- Do not block side streets
- Do not block driveways
- At no time should a vehicle be blocking traffic flow on Moylan Dr. (If there is an empty vehicle parked on the side of the road, you must wait until there is enough room for your vehicle to safely move around)
- For morning drop-off- Students must be dropped off by 9:40 am. Any student arriving to class after 9:45 am will be marked Tardy.
- The bus lane is for school buses and vans ONLY
For afternoon pick-up- Vehicles must be in line by 3:40 pm to pick up your student, with the student sign posted in your front window - Bus transportation will be recommended for any student not in compliance with the above reminders
- PTO
- We encourage all families to join the Woodmore PTO. Families can join the Woodmore PTO and additional information can be found at: https://www.woodmorepto.com/
- Volunteering
- There are numerous opportunities to volunteer with specific classes, grades, and during school-wide events. We encourage family members to register to be an approved volunteer at the start of the school year. There are three steps to becoming a registered volunteer. Step 2, fingerprinting, only has to be done once. Steps 1 and 3 need to be done every year. You can find more information here: https://www.pgcps.org/volunteer/
- Early Pick Up
- Early dismissals can occur until 3:10 pm.
- After 3:00 pm parents will have to wait in the pickup loop and students will have to be dismissed at the normal time (3:30pm). Please plan accordingly.
School Meals
Breakfast, for students that arrive prior to 9:30am, and lunch will be available for all students. Students will be paying for meals this year (Breakfast = $1.60, Lunch = $2.75). We encourage all families to set up an account on MySchoolBucks. Information on MySchoolBucks and PGCPS meal series can be found at https://www.pgcps.org/offices/food-and-nutrition. Students will be assigned a lunch pin on the 1st day of school and staff members will help students remember that pin.
